(LONG ISLAND, NY) January 13, 2025 — Author Nicola Delacoeur has officially released a new collection of poems entitled “In the Dark,” which is now available in eBook format at Amazon.com.
“I am absolutely thrilled to share these poems with the world at-large,” states Delacoeur, a published author of fiction and non-fiction. “These poems will not go easy on your soul, but they are sourced from aspects of the human condition each of us, at one time or another, must face during our lifetimes.”

The chapbook, consisting of 25 poems, examines the inner recesses of human thought—where darkness resides. Each poem explores concepts that people are often too afraid to share openly due to societal, cultural, and familial restraints.
Delacoeur writes about the emotions and thoughts associated with deep grief; physical and emotional pain; loneliness and abandonment; and bitter regret. Delacoeur adds: “Readers will bear witness to my struggles to cope with loss—of self, of loved ones, of health, of purpose...of a life never fully lived. In these pages, I try to make sense of the fate I’ve been dealt thus far on my life’s path and come to grips with what remains.”
The author’s aim is to normalize the expression of these all-too-common human emotions, which are often repressed in society; the hope being, only through honest and open communication will it be possible to free the darkness within. “Every verse explores concepts we are often too afraid to share, too reluctant to feel, and too proud to admit. This is not to say I am fearless, willing, and unashamed to air these musings; but rather craving a world that honors expression above repression.”
Delacoeur is also the author of the novel “Happenstance” (Kindle Direct Publishing, 2023), which is available in e-book format at Amazon Books. Categorized as contemporary women’s fiction, with a hint of romantic comedy and historical fiction, “Happenstance” is an introspective journey about loyalty and betrayal; love and loss; and whether choosing one’s own happiness is either an act of selfishness or a path to self-discovery. The main plot revolves around three characters who make up a rather unusual love triangle.
Consumers can read Delacoeur’s eBooks on a tablet, phone, and/or app-enabled PC or Mac. The AmazonKindle app is free to download in the Apple App Store or Google Play and is compatible with android and iOS devices.
Delacoeur is currently at work on the print editions of “In the Dark” and “Happenstance,” both of which are expected to be released this year. The author encourages prospective readers to follow her Instagram page, where she shares daily insights about her work and varied interests.
